Hybrid Cloth Diaper System
How It Works
The Hybrid diaper is just what it sounds like: a beautifully functional, modern diapering system that can be adapted to suit your needs. Choose from a number of cloth and eco-friendly disposable absorbent ’soaker' options that attach to a soft, comfy waterproof outer ‘Shell.’ The assembled diaper fastens around your baby just like a disposable.
When your baby’s diaper is wet, simply remove the Soaker Pad or disposable BioSoaker from the Shell and replace with a new one. Don’t worry—we’ve thought of everything, Including waterproof backing on all types of soakers to keep your hands clean! Plus, Shells can be worn 2-3 times before laundering again, which positively impacts both your wallet and the environment!
GroVia's unique one-size system allows you to adjust the rise snaps for a custom fit from infant to toddler size.
Absorbency at a glance
You can choose from cloth Soaker Pads—either Organic Cotton, Stay Dry, or No Prep—or our patented eco-friendly disposable BioSoaker. All four options are designed with elasticized leg gussets to contain messes. BioSoakers adhere to the Shell with sticky tabs, and Soaker Pads snap in.
The hallmark of our Hybrid design is simple flexibility. You may choose to stick with one type of soaker, or you may want to experience the full range of options.
(Also compatible with the GroVia Hybrid Shell are our soft, tagless Bamboo Prefold Diapers.)
What about laundry?
Ok, you’re intrigued. But you might ask, ’Is it difficult to wash these Hybrid Diapers? Like, WHAT will I be putting in my washing machine?’
Before laundering, you’ll want to dispose of “the solids.” GroVia BioLiners make this simple! Other families find they can simply dump solids into the toilet and flush.
After that, laundry is as simple as washing a load of towels! You’ll want to use warm water and enough of a good-cleaning detergent. Many families even find that they ENJOY doing diaper laundry—because doing something good for babies, the Earth, and the family finances is something to take pride in!
How much does it cost?
For full-time diapering with our Hybrid system, you will spend approx. $450-600 to diaper for 2-3 years. Don’t let the upfront cost scare you—you will spend 5x that buying traditional diapers over two years!
How many do I need?
You wouldn’t buy a new car without test-driving first, right? That’s why we recommend buying about four cloth diapers to learn the ropes before investing in a full-time supply.
For full-time diapering, a bare minimum of 12 Shells and 24 Soaker Pads should get you started. Increasing totals to 14-16 Shells and 36-45 Soaker Pads would be optimal within the first year to best spread wear and use out.
